Pinterest is becoming the go-to site for wedding planning because people are able to find everything they need in one place by searching a key word or phrase. People are able to take an item they like and "pin" it to the board that relates to their topic to make it accessible at a later time. Pinterest began back in 2010 and have drastically grown since then reaching to millions of people around the world making it one of the most popular social bookmarking sites today. this relates to emerging technology because in class we are discussing social bookmarking sites and with this being one of the top in the world, it gives a look at what the sites are like. 

The most interesting thing in this article that i found was that pinterest has over 70 million monthly active users and 80% of those access the site from their smart phone. this shows how technology is beginning to get bigger and bigger in today's society and becomes a necessity.
I feel that after reading this article i have a better understanding of what social bookmarking is because i was able to see an example that i can relate to since i am a pinterest user. I think social bookmarking is beneficial to society because it gives people a chance to organize their thoughts and connect with people that have similar interests as you. 

Ted Talk

I agree with the ted talk that kids are becoming surrounded by loneliness in their everyday lives because all the time you see kids walking around on their cell phones and not paying attention to others. After watching this i would like to change the way i live because i am pretty involved in technology but i probably wont because i am too attached to social media just like every other teen. in the future i think that technology will lead to bigger problems than just loneliness like clinical depression and social anxiety because people now are hiding behind the screens of their phones and computers to avoid a conversation with others. I feel that it is important to stay connected with people on a personal level and spend time with friends instead of being alone.

PSA Reflection

One of my favorites was Drew's because it was a bout animals and i feel that its a topic that is really commonly overlooked by a lot of people. It didn't really have an impact on me other than the pictures in the video but i felt that it was put together pretty well and it was a good overall presentation. Another one of my favorite ones was Grant's because it looked really professional and the music really worked with the overall message of the PSA. I learned some good facts about global warming and it was my favorite. The last one i liked was was Evan's PSA about exercise because it was a different topic that no one had used and i never really thought about it being a serious issue that needed a PSA. In this presentation i learned some good statistics about fitness which i feel helped the presentation be successful.

3 Day Weekend

Over the weekend, i went to St. Louis for a soccer tournament with one of my teams. It was really fun but there was no winner to the tournament because it was a "friendlies" which is designed to be a college showcase. In between games we went to the mall to find homecoming dresses as a team and i didn't find one, not that i'm going anyways. One of the girls on my team has a swegway so we were riding it all over the hotel and running into walls. On Monday i went to the mall with my friend Kate again looking for homecoming dresses.

Kids These Days

kids these days all they do is play on there little electronics and dont go out and play. back in the day we didnt have any of that and actually had to socialize with humans. The kids from this generation are the reason america is so fat. all they do is sit on their couches and watch netflix while they chill. most kids in this day in age dont even know what a tape player is. technology has taken over society.

How to Make a Good PSA

one important thing to remember when creating a PSA is the medium you use to present it. a PSA about saving the trees would probably not be beneficial if written in the newspaper or on a flyer. The idea is to make a PSA that will be seen by many people so its most effective. If your PSA is going to be in video form, know what you're going to talk about beforehand. It's always good to have a script of what to say and only include to most important information. Try to include a good hook for your PSA to grab the attention of the audience so its not boring for people to watch. the more people enjoy it, the more effective your PSA will be. After you record your PSA go back through and watch it before publishing it to look for errors.
